A Memorable Day of Fellowship at the SEC Ministerial Spouses Association Family Fun Day and Barbecue
Ministerial families from across the South England Conference (SEC) gathered on Sunday 10 May at the beautiful Stanborough Park grounds for a joyful and successful Family Fun Day and Barbecue. More than 30 ministerial families attended, with approximately 140 people present for a day filled with fellowship, recreation, laughter, and meaningful connection.

The occasion was further enriched by the presence of several Conference and Union leaders, including the SEC President, Pastor Kirk Thomas, Ministerial Association Secretary, Pastor Kwesi Moore, Teens Director, Pastor Joojo Bonnie, Pathfinder Director, Pastor Stanley Teixeira, Family Ministries Director, Pastor Rio Espulgar, Treasurer, Ann Swaby, and the British Union Conference (BUC) Communication and Media Director, Pastor Sam Davies. Their attendance reflected the Conference’s continued commitment to supporting and strengthening ministerial families.

Despite the unusually cold May weather, the atmosphere throughout the day remained warm, vibrant, and full of energy. Wrapped in coats and scarves, families enthusiastically embraced every activity, while the sound of laughter and cheering children echoed across the park grounds.

The programme began with an energetic warm-up exercise session that quickly brought excitement and participation from both young and old alike. The grounds soon came alive with volleyball, cricket, football, tug of war, bocce, and an adventurous treasure hunt that encouraged teamwork, friendly competition, and plenty of laughter.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing ministers themselves actively involved in the activities. Many served as enthusiastic team leaders during the sporting events, bringing both energy and humour to the occasion. Pastor Bonnie kept the football matches lively and competitive in his role as referee, while Pastor Teixeira, skilfully officiated the volleyball games, ensuring everyone remained fully engaged and entertained.

Families particularly enjoyed the cricket matches, with many attempting to withstand the SEC President’s impressively fast bowling aimed at the wickets. It was a wonderful sight to witness leaders, children, and families enjoying such a relaxed and joyful atmosphere together.

Guests were welcomed with a refreshing assortment of fresh fruits before later gathering to enjoy a delicious barbecue meal accompanied by conversation, laughter, and fellowship. As the day drew to a close, children were delighted to receive medals in recognition of their participation and team spirit. The event concluded on a joyful note with ice creams shared among everyone – and the smiles on the children’s faces spoke volumes.

More than simply a social gathering, the Family Fun Day served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of unity, encouragement, and mutual support within the ministerial family community. Seeing generations laughing, competing, and connecting together created memories that will no doubt be treasured for years to come.

Special appreciation was extended to MSA Coordinator Sis Ellen G Wilson and the committee members whose dedication and hard work ensured the smooth running and success of the event. Thanks were also expressed to Mama Ester, Theon Flood, the BUC, Stanborough School, and Pastor Moore, for their continued support and valuable contributions towards making the day such a memorable occasion.
The organisers expressed gratitude to God for a wonderful day of fellowship, recreation, and togetherness.
