BUC Statement on Safeguarding
Safeguarding Statement for the BUC
29 October 2024
The British Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church affirms and values the dignity of each human being1 and is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk of harm within its territory, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
We deeply regret any abuse that people have experienced in our church congregations.
We believe that abuse is abhorrent and devalues the personhood of individuals.
We seek for all our environments to be places of compassion and safety and will continue to adhere to legislation and our policy to ensure that our practice is constantly evolving to reflect our desire to maintain safe spaces, therefore being more Christ-like.
Through our faith, we exemplify the love of Jesus Christ, our risen Lord and Saviour and soon-coming King. We ‘give justice to the weak… and maintain the rights of the afflicted…’.
If you have been affected by abuse, further support can be obtained from the organisations listed below:
CCS Listening Line - 9:30 am - 10:00 pm - 0330 133 2495
